I'm going to make a minor change to the bonus summary table in the top post.
Specifically - Baseball America (Collazo) is reporting a bonus of $772,500 for Micah Ottenbreit (4th round). Jim Callis at mlb.com tweeted a bonus of $775,000. The difference here is $2,500. My educated guess is that Ottenbreit's contract includes a $2,500 "contingent payment" (per rule 3(c)(5)(B)). Rule 3(c)(4)(a)(i) stipulates that this contingent payment is not considered part of the signing bonus. Apparently, Callis, or whoever provided him with the bonus amount, didn't exclude this contingency payment.
This is a trick other clubs have used in past years to slightly reduce their bonus pool charges. I suspect, given the number of Phils' bonuses that are not whole thousands, that we're doing this more broadly - but that somebody just forgot to adjust this one before reporting the figure.
I'm going to tweak the table above to back out the $2,500 - this will increase the available pool for sweetening contracts to $44,050.
