Fans up here in NH are bummed about the Red Sox, but I think they played over their head the entire season and plus I'm a Phillies fan so I get a smile watching Boston get eliminated in any sport.
What I do not understand is all these machinations about using your starter for 2-3 innings and then going through the bullpen. You're paying these guys huge money and they are starting for 2-3 innings in the playoffs?? Your pen is exhausted and the margin for injury error is tiny. Is there such a thing as a starting pitcher any more? Very strange.
I also say this every year, but when is MLB going to have baseball back on a major network for the playoffs. I know the WS is on a major network, but what about the rest of the playoffs? FS1? TBS? TNT? It is incredibly pathetic and disturbing that this is the best MLB can do with what used to be our national sport. The other gripe is how late they start these games - too late for most kids who should be their absolute #1 target audience if they want the game to stay alive and grow.
