I wouldn't expect Santana to be part of it. Seems like the Phillies would have to throw in more prospects to offset the $ (unless they are paying a lot of it), rather than getting value for him. Though he does come off the books quickly.
I just hope Kingery turns out to be as good or better than Crawford because in some ways that's the choice the Phillies made. His struggles in AAA and his poor start slowed his timetable and the Phillies can no longer be patient. But also, they can only get value for things that have value and Crawford's potential/ceiling is still probably higher than Franco or Hernandez's current performance (and cost).
Given they were originally thought to be getting Machado, and Kingery played the position so much, it was never clear that JP would ever play SS for the Phillies. By the time Manny moved it might have been Garcia's turn, and/or Crawford would have been traded at some other point. But the big question here is still Machado. Do they still covet him and believe he'd buy into positionless baseball? Can Segura also play 3B (he has played 2B)? Or does this indicate they greatly prefer Harper?
