Yes, the best OF the Phillies are likely to field in 2019 has Odubel as a part of it. The out-of-shape argument seems weak, considering how well he started the season. It is the tale of two seasons, something changed. Maybe, like Hernandez, he was playing through a nagging injury. Maybe the coaches asked him to do something different and he couldn't and it sent him into a funk. Maybe he just let a slump play to much with his mind.
Offensively, Odubel's season, taken as a whole up to that point, was ok through July, then he had a horrible August and September. His defense was off, but it's hard to say how much of that was him. With poor shifts and player positioning, coupled with numerous players playing out of position, the Phillies defense as a whole was beyond bad -- among the worst in recent baseball history. If Odubel had been his normal plus CF defender, our defense as a whole still would have been terrible.
