Franco looked good, those weren't "Mr Cheapie" hits, and a couple were driven to right center.
Get Hernandez back, and Franco and Herrera on track, and this is actually an above average lineup.
Now the SP?
Well, the talent is there, unfortunately they're probably two years away from knowning how to pitch.
But finishing the year with Nola, Pivetta, Eickhoff, Velasquez, Liively, with Eflin at Lehigh isn't bad preparation for 2018.
Bullpen is the same, Garcia, Pinto, Ramos, Neris, Therrien wouldn't be a bad start to 2018 either.
Williams is starting to look overmatched, he really needs to go back to AAA ball and learn.
I think this is one consideration that's missed, veterans are not just trade bait but placeholders so that kids can stay in AAA ball and develop.
Pivetta would have been better served this year pitching in Allentown where hanging curves don't always end up 450 feet away - because to devleop a good curve you have to hang a few until you get it down - and young pitchers are often reluctant to throw a pitch that has had such bad results.
