I haven't claimed anything for Stassi, other than he hasn't looked overmatched so far.
He's not going to show power like Joseph and Rupp, but those guys have plus plus power.
But that ball he hit last night leaves practically any ballpark in baseball by 20-30 feet on a normal night.
I just see no read to jump to conclusions on what is basically NO data, Stassi has made a big turnaround the last two years, how far it will carry him remains to be seen.
But there are very few plus fielding 1B (where bad gloves stop on their way out of baseball), so he doesn't have to be spectacular as a hitter to be valuable.
As far as Hoskins, he can hit, but watching ST, his fielding could use some work.
There's simply no reason to rush him, if he's hitting like this in July, they may think about making some moves.
Problem is they'd be stupid to give up on Joseph, we're not talking a guy who's established his ceiling, we're talking a guy who is probably 1000 PA from the player he'll be, for better or worse. He missed a lot of time, and is still learning how to hit (and field at 1B). So they're better off being patient with Joseph, hope he can turn it around while Hoskins increases his trade value with a great AAA campaign, then make a tough call this offseason.
