We have a lot of young pitching, but most of it doesn't have a lot of value RIGHT NOW.
To really create value, you have to give these kids a chance to develop to the point where other teams see them as #3-#5 starters.
If we don't think they're good enough, why should anyone give us value for them?
And there's another issue, as long as our ML starters are marginal, no one is going to value our AAA pitchers highly, because they should be in the majors if they're that good.
Once we have an established rotation, then our AAA and AA pitchers become less suspect.
Other teams have scouts, right now someone like Kilome or Medina have limited value, if they throw 160 IP with improved command and results, their value skyrockets.
Young pitchers who throw hard are a dime a dozen, young pitchers who throw hard, show durability, improved secondary pitches and real upside are blue chips.
