I hope the Phillies have improved in all areas of player acquisition. As to the second round pick, past failures are no indication of future ineptitude, at least I hope not.
IMO, this revenue sharing arrangement is a crock. Maybe it's just because I am a long time Phillies phan, but it sure seems to me that the Phillies are getting a bad deal on this.
I realize that the Phillies may at some point make moves that do cost them in the upcoming draft and/or international signing money. I feel much more confident now than I did a few years ago that they will consider the value of both and only give them up when they feel the overall value to the organization is improved by doing so. I'm not sure the current crop of QO free agents fit that requirement. Still, I am willing to trust the GM and his advisors to make good moves, at least until proven wrong.
It does make some sense if they are going to sacrifice draft picks and international money, to do it in an off season where they can sign more than one of the QO free agents.
