This was in the Non-Phillies 2009 notes thread, but I think this news deserves its own thread - and I'm giving Sixerboy3 credit with posting it first:

Not my favorite player, but really, really shocking. It is hard to say as a Phillies fan "how could he be so stupid" but of course we have our own JC Romero to answer that (with his explaination).

Manny being Manny now has a new meaning.

I wonder if there are celebrations in Boston.

No HOF for Manny. Ever. This should exclude him in my opinion.

I can't pretent like I am shocked. I know this is not real evidence, but I saw some highlights of Manny early in his career with the Indians the other day on MLB TV -- and he now has a totally different body type.

I expect players to mature and develop as they get older, but this is different.

Sad.

I'm curious whether the failed tests was administered this year or last. I would assume this year--why would it take six or seven months to have the results--but if it's this year, and he wasn't trying for a contract, Manny is even dumber. He risked $8 million--for what?

Fair enough, but of course he has already been judged by baseball hasnt he. Unless you believe that they somehow erred in their judgment, which I guess is possible but very unlikely IMHO.

I highly doubt Griffey would ever use. I think a lot of people would have noticed by now.

When MLB decided to ban performance enhancing drugs, they weren't messing around.
