Recovery time for a pro athlete from a UCL injury to the thumb is listed various places as 8-12 weeks.

Probably see him in January...

Agree with z about Grimes’ agent.

Recent speculation with more knowledge of the severity of his injury is 6-8 weeks--decent news after the bad news...

It's not luck, it's the same old front office and ownership. (I know, a young player getting hurt is still bad luck).

Seems like the issue is less what Grimes is worth as the team's generally dysfunctional cap situation. The fact that it has gone on this long and is now becoming tense also suggests they maybe should have picked facing those consequencess for Yabu rather than Grimes. Though at the same time maybe it's not really that tense. The agent says the $ he is asking for still wouldn't push them past the second apron.

Grimes should get something like 1 year $15-18M or three years, $50M.

Grimes back to Sixers on $8.7M deal, agent says

Keeps his no-trade and UFA options.

Bauman said the Sixers' first formal proposal of the offseason came on Sept. 24 -- nearly three months into free agency -- with a four-year, $39 million offer. Days later, Grimes was offered a one-year, $8.8 million deal that gave him $100,000 more than his qualifying offer in order to waive an inherent no-trade clause. Those frameworks were declined, Bauman said, and negotiations never advanced.

On Wednesday, Bauman said Grimes' side offered the 76ers a one-year framework at $17 million while waiving the no-trade clause and a two-year deal at $34 million with a player option. Both were rejected by the 76ers, Bauman said.

If the agent is being truthful, the Sixers blew that negotiation. Two years around $34M would have been a great deal. The Sixers’ brass must not believe in him at that level.

I don't think they want to spend the 17 this year, plus he would have opted out. They still have Bird rights and sign and trade after the season right?
