I don't think I agree that Altherr wont play much. People forget about injuries, they happen, and sometimes for extended periods of time.
He would be the first person off the bench if any of Kendrick, Herrera, Saunders or Hernandez is hurt (assuming Kendrick takes 2B). That is alot of games, the odds of having at least 1 of those guys not available is probably at least 50% at any given time.
Add in Joseph as it is possible that they would move Saunders to that spot if Altherr is playing well (yes, I know, Saunders has not played 1B, but the ability to play 1B is VERY overrated, almost any baseball player can do it).
Now add in rest days and playing platoon advantages for these guys and I wouldnt be surprised if just being the "9th starter" doesnt get Altherr 120 starts. This assumes that he hits and plays well enough that he can hold off other bench players from taking ABs from him and that the Phils give him the chance to do this (along with Kendrick to play 2B at times and Saunders to play 1B at times maybe). This is assuming a fair amount.
I think the ABs are there for Alther, he just needs to claim them. Obviously with the possibility of Quinn and Williams in the wings he needs to take the job this year, but nothing says either of those guys will necessarily be knocking on the door soon, they need to perform and their are reasons to be suspicious of both.
