Phillies trade Howie Kendrick to the Nats for Mckenzie Mills

Doesn't it have to be for this year. I thought you couldn't trade for slot until 1 July, or did the rules change yet again?

It has to be this year's slot money by the rules.

I really like this deal. Low 90s with a little more projection out there and seems to have figured things out this year. And left-handed of course which is a general system weakness. Might like him better than anyone we got for Neshek.

His two worst outings of the year have come this month.. Giving up 5 runs in 6 innings and 6 runs in 4.2 innings in starts this month. But last outing was only 1 run over 7 innings.

We are going to have most of the SAL all star teams by the end of this. I think all 4 players so far were SALLY all stars.

Good to move Kendrick now so they don't feel they have to get him playing time over the next several weeks. He did much better for the Phillies this season than I expected but lost too much time to injuries. I like getting a young LHP into the system and getting some international slot money is also encouraging. I assume they have some more signings expected.

Mills will be 22 in AA next year off a very good year. This was the first season he really pitched many innings, so while he has some ugly years they are in very few innings.

6'4" pitcher for a guy that we have no use for. Not bad at all, especially since Kendrick has been hurt.

Klentak redeeming himself in my opinion, one good trade and one mediocre to good. Certainly an improvement, and no players that need to be protected this offseason

I imagine he is in Clearwater next year. Still in Low A and really must considered a one-step-at-a-time raw HS player. Though he has played well enough he could go to Clearwater now if they have room.

Well maybe we both are right. Clearwater rotation seems to be a little crowded with Seranthony back and Romero and Suarez newly arrived.

Yeah, we had the same conversation. Regardless, he hasn't pitched in high-A, and starting him at Reading would be a significant jump - notwithstanding that he's had a good year in Hagerstown.
