Still only 33. No idea if healthy means throwing upper 90s again.
I hadn't realized he was only 33! I guess I had a hard time realizing that because he hasn't pitched for the Phils in almost nine years. This was definitely a case where the Phils had him for exactly the right time (although he was also quite good in 2019).
He was quite good in 2017 too and a big part of that World Series team - just not in the actual playoffs.
I'm guessing the Phillies actually won that trade WAR-wise but that was to be expected given both the volume and that a fringe starter can still out-contribute a reliever (at least in WAR).
Being reported: Hoskins to the Brewers - 2 years / $34M
And another phormer phillie

Pretty good deal for Rhys. Might as well lessen the risk of a 1-year deal and get some guaranteed earnings. Timing of his injury really cost him some money, because if he had a healthy 2023 that was similar to 2022 he probably gets something like 20 million a year for 4 years.
Still too bad the Phillies have three more years of Nick C instead of 1 or more years of Rhys IMO.
Bullpen options dwindling...
Rhys can opt out too

Robertson and Jankowski to the Rangers. Wouldn't have been a horrible reunion in Philly.
I guess it won't be hard for him to hit that threshold which would presumably just send him back into free agency.

Still making headlines
Old pal Nick Maton has been designated for assignment by the Tigers.
The Red Sox agreed to a minor league contract with infielder/outfielder Dalton Guthrie, per the transaction log at MiLB.com.
Nick Maton traded to Baltimore.
After yesterday I'm not sure the Phillies shouldn't have signed him!
He sure took a beating, supposedly he turned down deals worth twice as much while holding out for two. But $7M with incentives.
