I don't think the Yelich comparisons are bad and I would be happy with that too. Not the superstar you want from 1-1 but a really good player.
I also don't disagree with EDmuch that the draft class was weak (or at least the top was). One response to that would have been to go with a college player with less risk at that point. Senzel or Puk perhaps.
Senzel is doing well, though also looks good but not great:
Same with Puk. Missing bats at a high rate in a good offensive league (California) but walking a little too many to be great.
Senzel could easily be in the majors next year and 3B is not exactly a strong point for us. One could argue that Senzel would have been the better choice last year.
There are really good reasons that Klentak went with Moniak. He just might have reached a little too far for a guy with good but not great projections.
I repeat that I really like Moniak as a prospect. A lot. But I still wonder if he and Randolph last year were overdrafted a bit.
