Philsmania--hope you like Bruce Springsteen. Tonight is "BruceClaws" night at the stadium. They'll be wearing "BruceClaws" uniforms and I'm sure you'll get a heavy dose of his music throughout the night.

GCL Phils game now listed as "delayed" (I would imagine it's suspended by now), with the Phils leading 2-0 in the 2nd. Ethan Lindow...who I forgot to even list among our LHP starting pitching prospects last night...struck out the side in the 1st.

What's the story on the injury to Jose Gomez? I kind of find it hard to believe that the Phils would trade for him if it were anything significant. But he hasn't played in 10 days. So couldn't one of our crack media in Philadelphia at least ask, when they had the chance?

I am seriously not going to be able to handle another 0 for Moniak/Haseley night. So depressing to see what guys like Hiura and Burger are doing in Low A

I don't put a lot of stock in a guy's first partial season of draft year. Wait until our instructors have a chance to work with Haseley in FIL and ST. Two things about Moniak: he's a skinny kid who needs to add strength -- it looks like he ran out of juice in July and at least at this point in time he simply cannot hit lefties. I guess a third thing -- he really needs to walk more often.

Last night the Phillies system had a rough night at the plate. Tonight their pitchers were dominant. It looks like teams are tiring out as we go into August.
Nice night by Romero and also Eflin. Zachary got it up to 100 pitches in his six innings. Would have like it better if that was in seven instead but he's building up his arm.

Nice games by every starting pitcher, Viza had his best game in a month, and the bullpens were smokin.'
Aaron Brown had a nice debut at Clearwater.
Pinto pounding it, guy like Ramos and Pinto and Rios on the right side, and Davis and Singer on the left side.

Yeah, some hitters are struggling, but Klentak made it clear pitching was his priority and he's delivered.
You always need more pitchers b/c you'll carry 12 and they break down all the time.
They already have a set young lineup, so they only need a few players to step up and incrementally improve the lineup.
But they'll need a steady stream of pitchers.

It was a nice night in Lakewood! The Springsteen night was a coolittle touch. Filter was impressive though after the first, the 'Claws' offense shut down. Moniak had a hit but it was a cheapie.

First time to Lakewood. My first impression is that it is pretty much a facsimile of Spectrum down in Clearwater. And there's a nice craft brewery, Icarus a mile up the road.

In non phils minor league news.. Birmingham and Chattanooga went 21! innings. the winning pitcher was a centerfielder. The losing pitcher was a 2nd baseman who walked 4 to lose it,
