Why so down on Rodriguez? I know he's nothing special but he is positive WAR, over .800 OPS. Really he's kind of the heir to Andres Blanco or the briefly hot Florimon, rather than another no-hit utility guy (and even those have their place).
Technically/currently a better hitter (and fielder) than Franco too.
Which raises an interesting, though premature, and still unlikely to happen, what-if?: if Quinn and Herrera both come back for good (or they just sign a CF, or Haseley sticks), and Kingery is your starting 3B, would Rodriguez actually beat out Franco for the last postseason bench spot, since he can play SS?
