If all we care about is the results, and I agree with you that is where most of our attention should be, then the Phillies PTB need to be called out and more information needs to be provided to the fan base about what their plan is, what the team's identity is and how are they going to manage the process to achieve those goals.
Because the results have been awful and this year are even worse. I understand much of this derives from the Amaro/Gillick management and Giles/Monty/Middleton ownership group mistakes and refusal to admit rebuilding was necessary, but Middleton is still here and the guys he brought in - MacPhail and Klentak - have a mixed track record at best so far.
Is our scouting better? Has the corrupt family style culture been purged from the organization? Is our talent development processes improved? Are the new analytics personnel and principles being integrated successfully within the baseball operations? Is Middleton ready to spend what is needed to compete for the best talent all over the globe? Are they still committed to building a long term sustainable winner here?
