Hes racking up the saves but he looks less impressive/comfortable doing it than Neris did in prior years.
He reminds me of Jeanmar Gomez in 2016. He was among the league leaders in saves for most of the year and finished with 37 which is a very impressive total for a team that won just 71 games but he did it with an ERA of 4.85 and a WHIP of 1.456.
Small sample size with Workman obviously but he has 4 saves in 7 appearances since joining the Phillies with an ERA of 5.68 and a WHIP of 2.526 (looks like last nights game is not included in his stats yet). You cant keep allowing multiple base runners and expect to keep getting saves.
Hes blown just one save so far, in his first appearance with the Phils, and in that game he allowed 5 baserunners in 1.1 IP so that is skewing his overall stats with us but since then hes gone:
1 Inning, 3 base runners 1 run - Save
1 Inning, 2 base runners 0 runs - Save
1 Inning, 2 base runners 0 runs - Save
1 Inning, 2 base runners 0 runs - Save
1 Inning, 3 base runners 2 runs - Save
1 inning, 2 base runners, 0 runs - Save
At least two base runners in every appearance. Is this sustainable?
