I'll still be surprised if it happens though I didn't really think they'd cut Kapler loose either. But now you've got the excuse of the 60 games, the financial burden of the cancelled season (making it harder to eat their contracts) and the fact that attendance is probably still going to be down next spring regardless (though if you're at 50% capacity, whether by law or a general reluctance for people to come rushing back, having a less popular product would hurt even more).
The real question is would they fire MacPhail? I don't see how you let him hire another GM, or even make a change without basically giving the new GM MacPhail's job,
Workman has a .500 BABIP, including his time in Boston, so yeah, I think you can count on him being a lot better next season, though he'll have to fix the part where the balls in play keep leaving the park.
