Again, the bottom of the lineup gets the job done. Kudos to Luzardo for grinding his way through six innings and the pen for shutting the door.

Fine win. It is nice to have a closer.

Kepler drives in two to take the lead. Stott drives in an insurance run that provides the margin to win. Luzardo wasn’t dominating, but goes six innings and only yields one run. Bullpen goes three innings with just the one solo home run. Phillies win.

Phillies take first two here in Arlington. Let’s finally get a sweep tomorrow.

Good defense keeping Phils in this game

Sosa made two web gem plays last night that were crucial.

Of course, if Bohm plays maybe he makes one of those plays, or two, and maybe he doesn’t go 0/4...you never know the counter-factual!

But what would Clemens have done?

As much as Rob does love to play the platoon advantage, the fact that both our SS and our 3B are RHBs and all three bench guys who can play those positions are also RHBs [one of whom will be swapped out for Bohm of course] does leave him w/o that extra piece. It just happens to work well for him at 2B against LHPs.

But the whole line-up last night was about defense and winning a low-scoring game, just convenient that our best two corner OFs are also LHBs.

Bohm should be close to returning. There were rumblings that he would get a game or two in this weekend in the minors though it has not happened yet. Maybe they are targeting the Nationals series when they are a little closer to home.
