Lively is a good example, has a live FB, but doesn't know how to pitch, flashed a curve, no changeup, nothing really as a slider.
Once the Cubs timed his FB, it was all over.
Then you watch Hendricks, 86-88 FB, but changes speed, great command, a guy who knows how to pitch.
Phillies have too many kids trying to throw the ball through a brick wall instead of perfecting their mechanics, command and secondary pitches.
Whether it's bad scouting (ignoring intangibles) or bad coaching remians to be seen.
But it isn't pretty.
