In the bottom of the eighth, Tommy Joseph reached on an error by Padres 3B Cory Spangenberg. Williams grounded into a 6-4-3 double play. Odubel Herrera flied out to deep left center, run down by Margot.

Yes I am still around. I loved doing PBP for the years I was able to do it. I admit it can be stressful trying to keep up with everything. Add to the fact that Im a 3 finger on each hand typist and often have to look at the keyboard if I lose my place, I was always amazed I could keep up.

Living in Illinois now I have to rely on MLB.tv now. Im not sure if its the service, my ISP, or my wifi which I abuse the heck out of, but im always at least a batter behind whats happening. Sometimes more. I even had to stop using twitter during games or else I would know what was happening before I saw it. I always thought it looked weird when someone posted a reaction to something in the game before the PBP of it was posted.

Add to this that my work that I do is online and often Im working on it during games, that makes it harder yet.

I might be able to do start some game threads at times. Cant do PBP for now. But if people will use the game threads I can probably find the time to post those. I always wished FAC would come back or someone else would want PBP. Ive always considered myself more of an analyst. I love stats and posting relevant tweets. Would llove to have been part of a 2 man team in the board PBP booth

Anywho.. Yes Im still around.

Ugly start to the top of the ninth. Aybar hit a fly to left that was out of Williams' reach... but Aybar didn't see where it was, and didn't run right away. But... Williams didn't realize Aybar wasn't running, so he threw to third.. and Aybar reached second. No errors, scored a double, but mistakes/glitches on both ends of this one. (Should somebody have been yelling at Nick to throw to second - since he was chasing the fly ball, he couldn't have been watching the runner - but Herrera?)

And now Szczur singles to center; Aybar to 3rd.

Sanchez hits a sac fly to right, Aybar scores.

Wil Myers draws a one-out walk. McClure out to talk to Neris.

I can create some of them, as well. Between evening meetings, meals, etc., I'm not going to be doing PBP (maybe some late innings). We're on a "late" schedule right now, and 7 PM starts just don't work for us.

@bkox Good to hear from you! I've have the same experience as you with feeling "behind". Keep in mind that the locals can get the game on actual radio; the MLB audio/video feed is always a bit delayed.

I was just watching the videos of the home runs hit today. Williams and especially Altherr have really nice swings, shifting their weight forward onto the raised foot as they swing. Rupp homered to the deepest part of the park and did so flat-footed; he did it with all upper-body muscle. Man, he's strong.

Galvis had a consistent style for both of his (at least it was consistent!) - a double tap of the right foot in front of him and then the swing. Not exactly classic mechanics but I can't argue with the results.

Herrera was of course all moving parts with that high knee lift, and I noticed that he twisted around until his back was almost facing the pitcher. As he unscrewed, he clobbered the ball.

Really different styles with all of them.

Very true... although I've migrated to Gameday Audio - radio reception isn't what it was when WCAU carried the games on the AM clear channel (e.g., "I liked the old!").

I gotta admit that the relentless losing combined with current play by play guy has me fast forwarding through the games these days. Harry and Rich made these kinda of squads a lot easier to swallow.

Well, I'll start a game thread if the mood strikes. I think it's the expectation of posting line-ups or live line scores that scares me away, but that's obviously optional.

I gotta admit, I find McCarthy easier to take with Kruk around. They seem to have a little chemistry. Don't much care for McCarthy/Davis though.

I use MLB.TV (and yes, not only is that delayed but I find even an HDTV cable or satellite signal can still be behind Twitter) so sometimes I overlay the radio guys, and I will also watch the road TV broadcast for certain teams (some are unbearable, of course).

Depending on how you get the games, you may be able to switch to the "radio" audio, even if you're watching on TV. Franzke and LA (and Romero, this weekend!) are good. The TV crew...well...

This does mean that you have to put up with actual play by play audio, while watching the occasional video of Gregg Murphy talking about... whatever; but if that's a problem for you, well, I can't help!

It's VERY optional. I do it, because I've built some fancy spreadsheets that facilitate it (and I did that mostly to keep my MS Excel macro-writing skills somewhat sharp, now that I'm not working in Excel for hours every day). But certainly NOT required (and without some kind of tool, it would be very tedious/difficult to do on the fly).

Everybody does PBP a little differently. Variety is good! Beats the heck out of "no game thread" - and arguably, it's better than the same thing every night, even if the "same thing" is first rate. And even if we have a bkox, or a findacure (or PhanInBama, for those that go back that far!), we always need a bench.

Someone will pick it up once the ML team becomes a little better, I have no doubt. I think there are many of us that think that the guys that are up there now just arent part of the future, or at least many of them are. It is time consuming and I havent really seen anyone (myself included) getting excited enough to do many (any?) game threads. It will change.

If there is, I haven't figured it out. Which is not to say it can't be done! If you (or anybody!) have thoughts about potential sources for such, PM me; I'll have time (sometime) to try to test/experiment.... or for that matter, try it yourselves (we have a Test Phorum that exists for y'all to do things like that!).

The radio on my app this year has continuously malfunctioned, it skips back about 30 seconds or a minute repeatedly so you're hearing parts of the game more than once and even Franzke and LA are hard to listen to with the random lenghty sections of repitition

Eww. That's ugly. I'm curious... Your "app"? What kind of device are you using? What kind of connection (this sounds to me like either an intermittent network outage issue, or a buffering problem on a slow connection)? I'm using a Mac laptop, on a FIOS internet connection, and have NO issues with Gameday Audio. It just works... and switching to the "radio" audio on mlb.tv also works fine - albeit not in real time, since I'm blacked out!

It's the MLB At Bat app on an iPhone. I posted about it before and others have said they have the same issue. Only happened this season after working with same "app" and same "phone" in other seasons.

The app presumably gets updated often but the big change would be to IOS no?

I'm an Android user myself, but I do most of my MLB.TV stuff on Roku.It's not great on Apple TV, crashed once a game, and doesn't have the audio overlay option.

I use Amazon fire Stick. Its usually pretty good but seems every day around 9:20 CST it drops out to the main screen. Doesnt matter what game im watching.
