And yes, I probably was too negative, too soon.
Kudos to Bohm, Herrera, and Segura for this win. No point taking a chance on Harper and Hoskins when you can win it sooner. Phillies score 3 with no outs in the bottom of the tenth.
In his post game interview, Girardi should open his remarks by saying "and that it exactly how I planned it to play out".
No way Alvarado should get the win! Baseball is a strange game!
Win every series, and everything will be good!
Well that was easy.
Yes, beating the Braves 1-0 would be nice, but letting them back in and then giving them a 2 run lead in the tenth only to come back and beat them is even more depressing for the Braves.
Phillies don't quit and come back again for the win. Win series 2 games to one.
Feels good.
Always true. Alvarado comes out of the game looking good with a win, no hits, and no earned runs in his inning of work.
Yes, Baseball is a strange game. Sad for Wheeler not getting a win. He pitched another great game.
I can just imagine the teeth gnashing over the bullpen that's going on in The Renegade Braves Phorum about now. It's a pleasant image.
I feel bad for Neris because this will get the phanbase on his back again but, in all fairness, a great player beat him. Sometimes, you can't complain about that. And, I feel bad for Wheeler not getting the win. He would be a Cy Young candidate--or Cy Young runner-up candidate, considering what de Grom is doing--if the Phillies got him more runs.
Segura is today's hero. Batted in the go-ahead run in the 8th, then the tying and winning runs in the 10th.
The last two games slap back the sting of that dreadful 12-inning loss in Atlanta back on 5/8. If the team needed an emotional kickstart, they sure got it with these two finishes!
Yup, Hector is easily still our best and most trustworthy reliever even if that's grading on a curve, and no shame in losing that battle - so long as he wins 'em sometimes too. At least it wasn't Panda.
Zack Wheeler is the 5th pitcher in Phillies history with 12+ K, 0 walks and 0 runs allowed in a game.Vince Velasquez (2016), Curt Schilling (1996), Steve Carlton (1982) and Jim Bunning (1965) also did it. https://t.co/15hcFmvlCp pic.twitter.com/AMFvevBezh— Stathead ( @Stathead ) June 10, 2021

That pitch to Segura was a truly awful hanging curve.
Alvarado now leads the team in wins with 5. And somehow has 0 losses.
Segura with 3 hits and 3 RBIs is the offensive player of the game. Don’t overlook Herrera’s contribution of two doubles and a walk.
The Harper-Hoskins-McCutchen middle of the order all were 0-4 today. Harper and Hoskins are due. Maybe they break out this weekend.
im wondering if Harper is still hurting
The two days off this week have to help.
The GDT doesn't show Marchan's at bat. I wasn't listening to the game or watching it, so I'm wondering what transpired between Marchan's walk and Bohm's RBI single. According to the box score, Marchan walked, but how did he get in scoring position?
Segura just might be building a strong All-Star resume.
And, picking up Herrera's option for next year is--for now, at least--beginning to look like a no-brainer.
