So, this is what I would do with the Eagles: (This assumes Jim Schwartz is back)
1) This one is going to cause discussion, but talk to Jason Peters and his agent and change his deal. He will get $9M with an $11M hit next year. I would offer him 3 year, $18M to replace that ($6M guarantee), but on one condition, we are moving him to Left Guard. It is time. He can serve as the backup LT, but this would save $4.33M on next years cap and have cap numbers of $6.66 the next 2 years after. Move Johnson to LT and Vatai to RT. i would also tell Peters he needs to show up down 20 lbs next year, hire him a nutritionist, this would help his back and his agility, which has really gone downhill. The one huge negative with Peters is he cannot play on the right side of the line because of his hearing, that really limits him, I would consider him at RT but he just can't do it. Putting him at LG and Johnson at LT gives you a really good place to run the ball. This is taking a risk that Peters can play a couple years as a guard.
If not, say good bye and find a RT but still move Johnson to LT.
2) Conner Barwin isnt a DE, great guy, great locker room guy, but good bye. Vinny Curry or a FA takes his spot, but we need pass rush from LDE badly. Cannot allow them to double team Cox on so many plays.
3) Talk to DB coaching staff about McKelvin. Was it the injury or is he really this bad? Most likely he needs to be released.
4). Terrell Pryor would be my #1 priority, Alshon Jeffries would be #2. Have to get one of them if at all possible. No chance I would even take DeSean Jackson's calls, I still remember the year he admitted he gave up on the team and stopped trying. He really isnt any different.
4a) Draft another WR later with speed. Move Agholor to 3rd WR. Figure out why DGB isnt a dominate guy and fix it, is it route running? effort? He should be a stud. If Greg Lewis can't figure it out, find someone who can.
5). Cornerbacks. Draft 1 with the 1st pick, one later. Sign at least 1. We probably need 3, although I wouldnt mind Carroll as a backup/5th DB.
6) Talk to Benny Logan, but honestly he isnt a high priority. I would rather have a guy that gets more pass rush there, we need it badly.
7) I like Ryan Mathews but he just isnt reliably on the field and costs too much. Smallwood et. al. will be fine, between him and Barwin you save $7M on the cap which you will need for CB and WR.
8) I would like Steven Wisniewski back as he is a quality guard and odds are we need that 6th OL.
9) Resign Braman if you can at a reasonable salary near what he makes now. If not find another replacement for ST that can maybe take some snaps. I would give Braman some chances as a backup DE on pass situations.
10) LB is fine, but draft a backup.
11) Hire a person to help with Supplements. Depending on the league and the players union is an obvious failure. Tell Johnson, VERY CLEARLY that he can only take Supplements approved by the team. He is a smart guy, his next suspension may end his very promising career.
12) Try Trey Burton as a blocking FB, short yardage back. Would be nice to save the roster spot.
13) Seriously think about redoing Daniels contract as he is very overpaid, but no matter what keep him at least 1 more year as I suspect he is still "teaching" Wentz.
